I left a Voicemail to one of the sellers and an email to the other last night. When didnt get a call back or an email this morning and I saw the ad is still up, I called. The AMC is still available and I got the seller to stay late so I can bring my dad over. I think I'm gonna buy it. The brakes are a little wonky, but safe. 100% fixable

Boss :) AMC Eagles are excellent. One of the few American cars I'd legitimately import over here to the UK

Is this the same one with the wonky gauges? I would honestly go for it. They shouldn't be hard to fix and, while it'll be a minor nuisance until they're sorted out, its not that big of a deal. Plus is's just awesome

Buy it. As long as the basic mechanicals are sound (engine/transmission/etc.), then you should be fine. Minor things aren't a big deal, and you can fix them as you go. Major mechanical issues make every drive terrifying, not knowing if you'll make it all the way back. From the description you gave it sounds like it only has minor problems. I will say one more thing though. DO NOT LOOK AT OTHER CARS FOR SALE AFTER YOU BOUGHT IT. You'll find much better cars at much lower prices if you do. Buyer's remorse is a bitch.

It had a the engine rebuilt some miles ago, It runs great. I didnt even have to prime the carb when I started it, It fired right up. Trust me, I wont be looking at other cars for a while, this car is perfect for me right now

I did it entirely to make one single comment but I was laughing at myself to hard that I figured I had to keep it for a day or two.

And yeah, I think if the rest of the car is in good shape and it runs well, and if the price is right, you should go for it. With cars like these the ODO doesnt really matter, and as long as you keep up with traffic and don't run out of gas, you're fine. The ODO on the BMW works when it feels like it (I need a new speedometer cable but I've been putting it off for 2 years), but with older cars the condition of everything matters so much more than the milage. You could have a low milage car that's been sitting forever and doesn't run, or something with higher miles that could easily be put on DD duty. You know?

Plus if you get pulled over and a cop asks "do you know how fast you were going" you can honestly say "not a fucking clue."

Then hell yeah, you should get it. Also, I'd say start with an offer of $1,500 and point out that it's cash. (Bring $1,800 in cash or none of this works) Odds are he'll go to around 1,650-1,700 and you can rope him in from there.

Most of the things you said about not looking at other cars was what I said too before I bought my 924. Then everyone and their mother has a sub-2,500 dollar NA Miata in mint condition up for sale in my area. As the meme says, I cry everytim. I'm not doubting you, it just happens to the best of us.

I just went back digging through your other posts to find a link to the ad, and I think you should buy it even more. Very rarely do you buy a car that contributes to a good cause.

AWD/4WD wagons are the best. I drive a '98 Subaru Legacy Outback and love it, my flatmate has an '86 VW B2 Quantum Syncro that needs a clutch and he loves his. Good luck with your purchase!
